Little Kids Camp
State of Play Summer Camp for 3 - 7 year olds! 4 days a week (Monday through Thursday) from 9am-3pm.
Each week your child will explore a different art material and learn about new artists and concepts within the medium. Your child will work on collaborative art pieces, as well as create their own individual works, a self portrait and a functional piece of art to take home. Each camp ends with an art show for grownups and siblings where the children will have the opportunity to show their work to loved ones. Daily outdoor lunch and art making (weather permitting) will be held in State of Play's green space in the Cannery.
June 16 - 19 : Paper Projects
Children will explore collage, both 2D and 3D. We will play around with all different kinds of papers and paper products, transforming them into unique works of art
June 23 - 26: Adventures in Printmaking
Children will be introduced to the endless possibilities of printmaking! We will cover techniques such as cyanotypes, shaving cream prints, and jelly prints and learn about elements in printmaking like layering, color mixing and design.
June 30 - July 2 : Kitchy Camp Crafts
This three day camp will be all things nostalgic summer camp vibes. We will craft, craft, craft making things like friendship bracelets, pet rocks, tie dye and so much more!
July 7 - 10 : Whimsical Watercolor
Children will dive into the whimsical world of watercolor! We will explore ways to manipulate watercolor paints as well as experiment with painting on different surfaces and materials.
July 14 - 17 : Finders Keepers
Children will explore art made with found objects and recycled materials. We will learn about artists and techniques that transform trash into treasure!
July 21 - 24 : World of Wood
Children will learn about the diversity of wood as a medium and how it can be dramatically transformed. We will learn about contemporary wood artists and create both individual and collaborative works of art.
July 28 - 31 : Playful Paint
Children will immerse themselves into the world of paint by learning about color, technique, texture, and artists from both the past and present. We will work on projects big and small to push the boundaries of this diverse medium.
August 4 - 7 : Mini Worlds
Children will use an array of materials to create their own little world! We will create buildings, people, sculptures and so much more! At the end of the week, we will put all the creations together to see the amazing village we create together, then each child will get to take home what they made.
August 11 - 14 : All About Yarn
Children will play around with creating works of art with fabric, yarn and other textiles. Children may also learn the basics of weaving and explore this process using different materials and types of looms.
August 18 - 21 : Forests and Flowers
Children will explore art made with natural materials. We will create art with clay, sand, sticks, leaves, shells and all that you can find outside!
August 25 - 28 : Cardboard Compositions
Children will explore the endless possibilities of using cardboard as an art medium. This readily available material can be transformed into just about anything you can dream up.
Big Kids Camp
State of Play Summer Camp for 6 - 9 year olds! 4 days a week (Monday through Thursday) from 9am-3pm.
Each week your child will explore a different art material and learn about new artists and concepts within the medium. Each camp ends with an art show for grownups and siblings where the children will have the opportunity to show their work to loved ones. Daily outdoor lunch and art making (weather permitting) will be held in State of Play's green space in the Cannery.
July 7 - 10 : Weaving &Fiber Art
Children will learn how to design, weave and complete their very own wall hanging on a wood framed loom. This camp teaches persistence and patience as completing a weaving takes determination and grit. Other projects include yarn dyeing and tie dyeing. The finished products are stunning!
July 14 - 17 : Dream House Camp
Children will design and create their own keepsake dreamhouse. They will make furniture, rugs, wallpaper and window treatments to fill their dream house with.
July 21 - 24 : Junk Journals
Children will use collected and recycled paper materials and ephemera to create a keepsake journal using techniques inspired by a variety of collage artists.
July 28 - 31 : Women in Art
Children will learn about influential female artists past and present to create works of art inspired by their unique perspectives.
August 11 - 14 : Makers Market
Children will spend the week creating artwork and preparing for an open to the public art market where they will sell their creations. Campers will learn about how artists price, market and sell their work and do the same with their own!
August 18 - 21 : Building Blocks of Art
Children will learn about the seven elements of art, creating artwork influenced by concepts such as space and form, color and value, and texture, line and pattern. Each element will be taught through looking at and learning about artists proficient in that technique and element.

Our classes are great for 3-9 year olds. That's the great part about art! Children are able to approach the same material and medium in different ways no matter what their age. Our skilled educators adapt each project and invitation to the child approaching it.
