Children have incredible instincts for discovery and their theories about how things work are often far more impactful than our agenda. Open-ended play facilitates spontaneity and prompts the Question: What happens when we follow a child’s lead? At State of Play, young children are encouraged to experiment, hypothesize, and share their knowledge with those around them. We love that play looks different for everyone, grownups included!
State of Play is dedicated to being an inclusive environment. We believe that ALL people deserve access to high quality creative experiences. Through State of Play’s Equitable Access Program we have established a scholarship and are working with local non-profits, pairing families with free Open Play periods. Contact us if you are interested in contributing to our fund or wish to find out more about our Equitable Access Program. This growing list of local businesses and individuals have already purchased a year’s worth of free play to go towards our scholarship: Heyday (2 years worth), Rocky Mountain Toy Co. (2 years worth), The Loft Spa, Roots Family Collaborative, Flora McCormick, Heidi Putnam, Anne Hossner, Janielle Biletter. The nonprofits we partner with include: Thrive, Roots Family Collaborative, Haven, Childcare Connections, and The Cozy Nest Occupational Therapy Practice.
As aspiring allies, State of Play strives to provide a safe and inclusive space committed to provide programming and curriculum that is rich with opportunities to develop socially minded thinkers; celebrating inclusivity, embodying anti-racism, and empowering our youngest learners to be advocates. We believe that this work must start from birth and the arts are a powerful tool in inspiring the next generation of global change makers
